issue 34, 2010-11, 17th June 11

Dear Parent/Carer,

New colleagues
I am delighted to share with you that we have new colleagues joining our teaching team for the School Year 2011-12 in September. We welcome Sophie Moore and Lindsey Snowden to our teaching staff for next year and Rebecca Tighe and Matthew Lightowler to Graduate Teacher Trainee posts. We will also be welcoming Mrs Brook back from Maternity Leave in July this year. As you know, we grow our own outstanding teachers and staff here at Robin Hood. Mrs Steel, Miss Mees, Mrs Brook and Mrs Moore have all joined us from the Graduate Teacher Training route. Miss Thackeray, Miss Oxley, Miss Bradshaw and now Miss Snowden have all joined us as Newly Qualified Teachers.

Children’s Centre Noticeboard
We have a new Children’s Centre Noticeboard sited outside our Nursery. The Board will be regularly updated with news from Lofthouse Children’s Centre.

New Reception Parents
We welcomed our new Reception Parents into school last night. It was a fantastic evening and is one of the fixtures of the School Calendar that I particularly enjoy as we welcome new families into our school community.

Thanks to Mr Reid
My thanks to Mr Reid, Robin Hood parent and local dentist, who talked to our Year 34 pupils last week about looking after their teeth. The Year 34’s went on to do a number of very interesting experiments using eggshells, coca-cola and vinegar…

Stars of the Week
I would like to spotlight both Mr Thurlow and Mrs Holland for attention this week. The Batik work that has been produced for the India topic in Year 34 is truly extraordinary… and is a testament to both Mr Thurlow’s artistic vision and skill in helping our children to achieve and Mrs Holland’s superb needlecraft in sewing the individual sections together.
