Dear Parent/Carer,

Learning in the Community
We welcomed many of our Year 34 parents and grandparents yesterday to sample our cooking, watch our Bollywood Dancing, look at our Batik Art and find out about the research work that has been going on in Year 34 for the India Topic. Our Indian Princesses, Miss Thackeray, Miss Nicholls and Mrs Charlesworth all looked magnificent in their saris, Mr Thurlow, our Indian Prince, showed exactly how a turban should be worn. My thanks to Mrs Mistry for supporting this Topic with her magnificent cooking and for providing some of the costumes. It was a fantastic afternoon… one of the many ways in which we encourage families to ‘get closer to the action’ with their child’s learning in school.

Brilliant Blogs and Brilliant Staff
You can, of course, get ‘closer to the action’ by accessing our fantastic blogs. Please do take a look at Mrs Friar’s Gardening Club blog http://robinhoodgardening.blogspot.com/ We are fortunate to have fantastic people like Mrs Friar, Mrs Mistry and the teachers mentioned above throughout our school… all of whom go that extra mile for our children – and make our school the outstanding school that it is. I would like to spotlight Mrs Holland’s work also this week. Mrs Holland has taken on a new role in the school office and is providing great support for pupils, parents, Mrs Smith, myself and the teaching team. Mrs Holland is a very vital cog in the Robin Hood machine. My thanks to her for her outstanding work.

Norway Visit
We welcomed our colleagues back from their Norway visit on Monday. Many valuable new experiences have been gained, new learning acquired and our children have heard all about the visit and about life in Norway in this week’s assemblies.

Reflections on the Half Term
This Half Term began with a call from ofsted notifying us of an inspection the day after next. I am delighted for the staff, the school and the community that we got the inspection report that we deserve and that both myself and Governors have known we have deserved for the last three years. Pupils from Robin Hood have appeared on Calendar TV during this Half Term (now showing on our school website) and have enjoyed press coverage from the Yorkshire Evening Post, Rothwell Record and Wakefield Express. What with an inspection, three shortened weeks, and Year 6 SATs… it has been a very busy time. Everyone connected with the school thoroughly deserves their Half Term Break.

Have a fabulous Half Term,
Mr Wilson
