Dear Parent/Carer,
Sports Stars
Well done to all of our runners at the Woodlesford Cross Country Run last Friday night. A fantastic nineteen runners represented Robin Hood at the event. Jakub Zielinski, Sam Fowkes, Ellie Barltrop and Ben Parker all earn a special mention for their outstanding runs. We held a number of Running Clubs to help prepare for the event, which has proven so popular that we are going to start a weekly Running Club on a lunchtime after the Half Term. It was fantastic that we had as many parents as we did to support our children at the Woodlesford event… which is one of the many sports events throughout the year that our children have the opportunity to participate in. My thanks to Miss Mees for organising and managing our participation and to Miss Thackeray for helping at the event, which finished at around 6.00pm on Friday night. Make a space in your diary for our all new Sports Day, also organised by Miss Mees. Our children will be practicing for their events in our PE sessions during the coming Half Term.
Norway Visit
Miss Thackeray, Miss Hinton, Mrs Comstive and Mrs Cookson are away in Norway this week, building links with our European Partner Schools. Outstanding schools are always busy schools that are involved in a wide range of projects… because that’s how an outstanding staff offering an outstanding curriculum and outstanding provision for pupils are created. This project is fully funded by the European Union Comenius Project… which aims to deepen the links between schools and children throughout Europe. This funding supports the partnership working between teachers and funds additional resources for our curriculum that our children otherwise would not have. We look forward to our colleagues’ safe return and their stories from north of the Arctic Circle.
Car Parking
I must once again return to the familiar theme of car parking in and around school. The school has invested significant funds in ensuring very clear signage around the Car Park that makes very clear who has access. Please respect the parking restrictions. Please respect the spaces created for disabled drivers. Please do not create potentially dangerous situations for others for the sake of your own convenience. A black Honda Civic has been reported to me several times for parking across the entrance to the Car Park at the end of day to collect a child. As a school community, you can help us to achieve a safe environment for our children, other road users and the community at large by challenging inconsiderate and/or illegal parking and by reporting it to the school or direct to the local police, who are actively working with us.
