Visitors
We were visited this week by Lee Murnane, Principal at Seaford North Primary School, Melbourne, Australia and Wendy Larcombe, Principal at Appin Park School in the state of Victoria, Australia. Lee and Wendy are both on Professional Development visits to the Northern Hemisphere and are visiting select schools on their travels. Lee has visited schools in Beijing, New York, Paris, Glasgow, London… and made the trip up from London especially to spend a couple of hours with us at Robin Hood. It was fantastic to hear very complimentary things about our school from him, given the number, range and reputations of the other schools he has visited. It is still a matter of mystery and pride that we are established on the list of ‘must see’ schools on the Australian Principals tour of Europe.
Our Year 34 pupils had a day of Hip Hop and Bollywood dancing in the Hall on Thursday. Ofsted inspectors were very taken with the creative and dynamic curriculum at Robin Hood. We had a Planetarium in the Hall for our Year 56 Science Topic while the inspectors were in school with us. The Lead Inspector was actually trapped inside the Planetarium at one point… thankfully, she didn’t hold it against us!
We are told that the ofsted report will be made public on 11th May.
Transition Day - Rodillian
The Year 6 Transition Day for those children transferring to Rodillian takes place on Tuesday 5th July, the same day as our Meet Your New Teacher Day. Year 6 children should go direct to Rodillian on the day and should not come here first. Those Year 6 children not transferring to Rodillian should come to school as usual.
Bags 2 School
Bags 2 School Thursday 12th May. Please bring your bags first thing in the morning. My thanks to our dedicated PTA for their continuing efforts to support the school and to those members of our school community who support our PTA.
Oulton Raidettes
