issue 30, 2010-11, 13th May 11

Dear Parent/Carer,

Ofsted Inspection Report
Copies of the report were distributed on Wednesday. If your copy did not come home via Pupil Mail, copies are available via the school website…. Click on the ofsted quote on the Homepage. News of our successful inspection was carried in yesterday’s Yorkshire Evening Post.

Newsletter Blog
Our online newsletter blog features community notices, letters, etc that are either not distributed to the whole school or we can’t feature in the paper-based newsletter due to the inevitable space restrictions that this format imposes. Please do refer to our online blog… which is the best way of keeping you fully informed about everything that is going on at the school. While on the subject of blogs, I must recommend that you view our fantastic Art Blog. Robin Hood is, of course, the proud holder of the Arts Mark Gold Award. We are blessed to have Mrs Dale’s vision and enthusiasm for the subject and our pupils are daily creating incredible works of Art. There are some fabulous examples on the blog of Mrs Chin’s wonderful work with our Art Clubs.

PTA Dates
Our remaining PTA activities this year are:
Marks’s Magic Show, Fri 24th June, 6.15pm-7.30pm
Leavers Disco, Fri 22 July
Please contact Jenny Curgenven for further information.
Unfortunately, due to the decline in the number of volunteers and donations, our PTA is unable to hold a Summer Fayre this year. It becomes very difficult when the burden of responsibility for organisation, donations and managing stalls consistently falls to a small group of people. We have been very fortunate to have had a loyal and committed group of PTA supporters in recent years. The continuation of an active PTA requires additional volunteers and additional help from within the school community. If you feel that you are able to make a contribution to the PTA, please contact Jenny.

School Uniform
Could I please remind all parents about School Uniform, jewellery, hair and fingernails. We ask that you support our School Uniform Policy. Jade Green sweatshirts or cardigans, white polo shirts, black shoes or trainers. For safety reasons, jewellery should be limited to ear studs only. Similarly for safety and practical reasons, fingernails should be of a reasonable length. We ask parents to use their own judgement as to what is reasonable, practical and sensible in terms of hairstyles, colours, etc, but ask that you do bear in mind that we are a school, not a fashion parade. We will ask that make-up and false nails are removed.
