issue 37, 2010-11, 7th July

Dear Parent/Carer,

We have had another incredibly busy week in school this week, what with our Key Stage One trip, Year 6 Cycling Proficiency, Meet Your New Teacher Day, Inter-Schools Sports, Performance Dress Rehearsals and our preparations for the end of the school year. I currently have the pleasure of reading three hundred and fifty fantastic and positive School Reports that record our children’s many achievements this year.

Dates reminder
Please remember that tomorrow is a Training Day.
Our Arts Review Evening takes place tonight, 6.00pm – 7.00pm. We hope that you are able to attend our festival of the Arts and celebration of our children’s talents.
Our all new Sports Day takes place on Monday 11th July. We hope to see you there.
Golden Day is on Thursday 21st July. Bouncy castles are at the ready. Please ensure that your child knows which shoes belong to him/her.
Our Talent Show, Poetry Final and Year 6 Leavers Disco take place on Friday 22nd July. Parents are welcomed to join us at 2.30pm for the Poetry Final. Leavers Disco is organised by our hardworking PTA. Please note the amended date for this event.

Rothwell Sports
My thanks to Miss Mees for organising our participation in this year’s Rothwell Inter-Schools Sports event on Wednesday at Rothwell CE. We fielded a strong team, all of whom did their very best. Many thanks to those parents who went along to cheer our children on.

Mrs Friar
Our wonderful Mrs Friar and her Gardening Club feature in this month’s Rothwell Record magazine. Thanks to Mrs Friar’s dedication and hard work, we have now completed Level 3 of the Campaign for School Gardening and have won £250 in vouchers to spend on our gardens… which really are a great learning experience for our children. Today, children have been eating vegetables from our garden with their lunch. It is thanks to our fantastic staff - like Mrs Friar - that Robin Hood is such an incredible learning place.

Welcome back Mrs Brook
I am delighted on behalf of everyone to welcome Mrs Brook back from her Maternity Leave. Mrs Brook rejoins us on Monday. Molly is at home with Dad for the next couple of weeks. With Mrs Brook’s return, we are back to our full compliment of teaching staff from September.

School Uniform
We continue to ask parents to support us in upholding our standards of school uniform. School Governors believe that school uniform is important and parents, when last canvassed on the subject, were overwhelming in their support for a smart school uniform. Our School Uniform rules specify black shoes or trainers.

Stock Sale
We will be selling the remaining items of school uniform and Book Bag stock that we hold for 50p per item at the end of the school day every Friday (Thursday this week) until the end of the term. Any unsold items will then be passed on to worthy causes.

Friendly Faces
Places at Friendly Faces from September 11 are going very quickly. We have only a few spaces available both before and after school. To make sure of a place, please book soon. We are running Summer Holiday Clubs at Friendly Faces too. Prices are very competitive at £25.00 for the full day or £12.50 for a half day. Please contact Louise Parker for more information or to book, either at Friendly Faces or on 07810071148.

Un-named Clothing
Un-named clothing inevitably goes missing at this time of year. All named clothing is quickly returned to its rightful owner. Please ensure that all clothing items are clearly labelled with your child’s name. Due to the extremely limited storage space at the school, we are unable to maintain a large store of un-named and unclaimed clothing.

Electronic Newsletter
Our newsletters will be published on the blog and distributed via email from September. Please ensure that you have returned your email address and mobile number to us so that you receive our communications. Any families who are unable to receive electronic communications… please let us know.

Training Day tomorrow, Sports Day on Monday.
Have a fantastic weekend,
Mr Wilson
